Press Release 4/29/2023

The Committee to Recall Kevin Crye Responds to Clarify Supervisor Crye’s Inaccurate and Misinformed Response to the “Notice of Intent” to Recall Served April 25, 2023

On April 25, Kevin Crye stated that the effort to recall him is backed solely by “liberal Democrats who have been planning this recall since before he was elected.” That statement is false.

The effort to recall Supervisor Crye is non-partisan in nature and is backed by District 1 voters registered as Democrats, Republicans, Independents, and No-Party-Preference (NPP). In fact, the 91 proponents of the recall of Supervisor Crye listed on The Notice of Intent (NOI) served on Mr. Crye at the Board of Supervisors meeting on April 25 are a mix of Democrats, Republicans, Independents, NPPs. We call upon Mr. Crye to recant his false claim that the recall effort is backed solely by “liberal Democrats” immediately and apologize for making unfounded assertions to the public.

In addition, the Committee to Recall Kevin Crye (Committee) was formed in response to Supervisor Crye’s initial and continued poor decision-making and bad judgment. In early March, 2023, a small group of citizens began to form what became the "Shasta Citizens for Stable Government." Based on the gravity of Supervisor Crye’s continued destabilizing actions, the group determined that a recall was absolutely necessary to stop his continued poor decision making which has been completely out of step with his campaign promises. Again, we call upon Mr. Crye to recant his false claim that the recall effort was initiated before he was elected and apologize for making unfounded assertions to the public.

The non-partisan, newly formed “Committee to Recall Kevin Crye” will continue to focus on holding Supervisor Crye accountable for his actions including any future false statements and misrepresentations.
